In 2025, Almaty plans to allocate 10.6 billion tenge for environmental projects. One of the priority areas will be the city's greening.

According to the press service of the city maslikhat, the corresponding budget project for 2025-2027 is planned to be considered at the upcoming session of the department.

The project plans to continue planting trees and shrubs, increasing the area of green space per resident from 12.5 to 12.8 sq m. This year, more than 110,000 saplings have already been planted out of the planned 170,000

Special attention has been paid to updating the solid household waste collection system. The city authorities plan to build more than 2,000 underground container sites. In addition to this, a project for a new waste landfill in the Ili district is being developed.

Another significant area will be the reconstruction of the riverbeds of the Ulken Almaty and Kargaly, as well as the improvement of the "Sairan" reservoir.

Recall that in August last year, journalist and agricultural expert Kirill Pavlov reported that the capital's akimat provided false statistics on the survival rate of green spaces in Astana. As a result, the budget loses billions of tenge.

The expert noted that the akimat claims an inflated survival rate for saplings - 90%. When asked what survival rate was forecast for the million plantings that were planned, the akimat gave a similar answer.

In August of this year, deputy of the capital's maslikhat Vladislav Sergeev stated that Astana spends tens of billions of budget funds on planting trees and shrubs, but does not keep track of them. He also recalled cases where trees are planted as compensation for those cut down, but they do not survive.
