Deputy of the capital city's maslikhat Vladislav Sergeyev stated that in Astana, tens of billions of budget funds are spent on planting trees and shrubs, but they are not being accounted for.
"We spend huge amounts of money every year on landscaping, on planting new trees and shrubs. Tens of billions from the budget go towards implementing this issue. Today we are approving rules to approach this issue systematically," emphasised Vladislav Sergeyev.
According to Bes.media, he also recalled cases where trees are planted as compensation for those cut down, but they do not survive.
"From this rostrum, three heads of the Department of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources have already promised us to implement this system. If there is no accounting, it means budget funds are being used inefficiently. Spending such huge sums of money, we must clearly understand how many trees have been planted, how many have been cut down, and where exactly the compensation took place. We have facts where compensatory planting is carried out and these trees die," the deputy pointed out.
It is noted that drying seedlings of trees and shrubs are a common sight for residents of the capital.
"There are services in the city responsible for landscaping the city: they dig up the soil, plant green spaces. But problems arise with their maintenance," the report says.
Meanwhile, the deputy believes that spraying green spaces from vehicles on the roadside is ineffective, both for water conservation and for watering trees in general.
Recall, earlier journalist and agricultural expert Kirill Pavlov reported that the capital's akimat provides false statistics on the survival rate of green spaces in Astana. As a result, the budget loses billions.
The expert noted that the akimat claims an inflated survival rate of seedlings of 90%. When asked what survival rate they forecast for the million plantings that were planned to be planted, the akimat gave a similar answer.
