51 million demanded by Almaty residents for cars damaged by trees

The court of the Medeu District of Almaty has considered 32 lawsuits since last year related to trees falling onto cars. 

According to the press service of the department, in total citizens demanded compensation of 51.3 million tenge. It was reported that 31.2 million tenge was recovered from the budget.

“Prosecutors established that the prescribed measures for maintaining green spaces were carried out improperly. A comprehensive inventory, forest pathological survey, and the work of entering data into the relevant database were not performed in full,” the court reported.

As a result, the director of LLP ‘Eco Almaty’ was brought to disciplinary responsibility.

“Additional measures are being taken to identify hazardous trees,” the statement reads.

Recall that earlier the akimat of the Kazbek bi district of Karaganda was ordered to pay for the repair of two cars that were hit by a falling tree.
