Large-scale greening continues in the capital: since the beginning of the year, more than 700 thousand trees, shrubs and flowers have already been planted, and by the end of the season it is planned to add another 234 thousand plants.

WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN PLANTED
At a briefing at the capital's Communications Service, the deputy head of the city's Department for Environmental Protection and Nature Management, Samat Abdullin, reported that this year it is planned to plant more than 1.1 million green spaces in the capital, including 70 thousand trees, more than 600 thousand ornamental flowering shrubs, 40.5 thousand plants for hedges and other types. The work covers all six districts of the capital.
Of the 700 thousand plantings planted since the beginning of the year, 21 thousand are trees, 303.4 thousand are ornamental flowering shrubs, 28 thousand are plants for hedges, 130.7 thousand are shrubs and 249.2 thousand are perennial flowers. According to Abdullin, when selecting species, the climatic conditions of the capital are taken into account, with particular attention paid to large-sized trees and perennial shrubs.

WHERE THE WORK IS BEING CARRIED OUT
Greening covers parks, public gardens and the main city thoroughfares. New plantings are appearing along the Tarlan Astana line, on Syganak and Kabanbay batyr streets. In certain sections, the planting of thousands of trees is envisaged, with the formation of new green zones. Greening continues on the second phase of the Greenline pedestrian boulevard, where walking routes, sports and play areas are being formed.
Along the Yesil River, a single park cluster is being created, including the Presidential Park, the Park of Peace and Harmony, the Triathlon Park and other recreational areas.
BY DISTRICT
In the Baikonyr district, this autumn trees and shrubs are planned to be planted on Abai Avenue and on Kenesary, Pushkin and Tashenev streets. The apple and pear trees in the public garden on Tashenev Street, planted last year, have successfully taken root and produced their first fruit.
In the Yesil district, plantings have been carried out along Kerey-Zhanibek khandar Street, Uly Dala and Kabanbay batyr avenues, and the grounds of the EXPO park, the KTZ public garden and the area near the Al-Farabi mosque have been landscaped.
In the Nura district, green zones are being formed along Syganak, Aitmatov and Gapeev streets, and the improvement of the Central Park and the Urker residential area continues.
In the Saraishyk district, Koshkarbayev Avenue has become a key section - a landscaped space with green zones and a local irrigation system has been created here.
In the Saryarka district, large-scale work has been carried out on Kumisbekov and Kenesary streets, in Koktal park. Pine trees, elms and lilacs have been planted.
In the Almaty district, greening is being carried out along Nazhimedenov Street and on the territory of the "Tauelsizdik" bridge.
CARE OF THE EXISTING FUND
Alongside the new plantings, maintenance of the already created green fund is being carried out: watering, treatment against pests and diseases, application of fertilisers, restoration of irrigation systems. According to Abdullin, comprehensive care ensures the plants take root. In total, in recent years, around 500 public and courtyard spaces have been landscaped in the capital.
According to the speaker, today Astana has more than 4 million green spaces, with around another 14 million growing on the territory of the "Green Belt".
