The KNB has received part of the powers of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence.

The National Security Committee has been transferred certain functions and powers of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development. The corresponding decree was signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

According to the press service of Akorda, the document was adopted in accordance with paragraph 21 of Article 44 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is aimed at improving the efficiency of the public administration system.

Under the decree, the NSC has been transferred functions for exercising state control in the field of informatisation, specifically regarding ensuring the information security of critically important objects of the information and communication infrastructure.

The NSC has also been designated as the legal successor to the rights and obligations of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development within the scope of the transferred functions and powers.

The Government, together with the NSC, has been tasked with developing the necessary legislative amendments in accordance with the established procedure, as well as taking other measures to implement the decree.

Furthermore, the agency must submit to the President a draft decree on introducing amendments and additions to the Regulation on the NSC of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Control over the implementation of the decree has been assigned to the Presidential Administration. The document comes into force on the date of its signing.
