Employees of the police department of the Zhetysu region, together with the department of economic investigations and the customs service, prevented an attempt to export a large batch of lead.
According to Polisia.kz, department officers detained two trucks transporting more than 60 tonnes of metal. The market value of the cargo exceeds 60 million tenge.
It is reported that the lead was intended for illegal shipment abroad. Police are carrying out operational measures to identify all those involved in organising the scheme.
It is noted that similar incidents were previously identified in other regions. For example, in the North Kazakhstan region, the activities of a partnership attempting to export scrap ferrous metal under the guise of high-alloy steel were stopped.
Law enforcement officers discovered around 1,000 tonnes of scrap metal, including 7 wagons prepared for shipment to a neighbouring state.
In the Mangystau region, a maritime channel for exporting scrap metal to one of the Caspian region countries was uncovered. More than 400 tonnes of metal were found on the enterprise's premises, part of which — two containers — had been prepared for export.
In all cases, materials have been sent to investigative authorities, and those responsible have been held accountable.
It should be recalled that earlier, transport prosecutor's office bodies stopped attempts to illegally export ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal to the Netherlands and Germany. Violations were recorded at the Customs Clearance Centre (CCC) of Astana.
