In the Zhitikara district of the Kostanay region, illegal gold mining was stopped.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, the land plot was intended for agricultural production, but it was used for the illegal extraction of precious metals.
During an inspection of the area, authorised agencies discovered specialist equipment, metal detectors and other tools intended for the extraction of minerals. In addition, experts recorded the destruction of the fertile soil layer.
Following the inspection, a fine of 2.6 million tenge was imposed on the limited liability partnership that owned the land plot. The company was also ordered to restore the fertile soil layer.
Recall that in August 2024, the Main Transport Prosecutor's Office concluded a criminal case against citizens of Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Russia. They are suspected of creating a transnational organised criminal group that illegally mined precious metals in the Akmola region from 2021 to 2023. The total damage from their actions exceeded 250 million tenge.
