In the Mangystau region, heads of oilfield service companies continue to be detained.

“The prosecutor’s office of the Mangystau region, together with authorised bodies, is conducting inspections of the activities of certain enterprises in the oil and gas sector”, the press service of the department reported.

It has become known that officials of Oil Transport Corporation LLP unreasonably reimbursed the expenses of a contractor company by more than 700 million tenge at the expense of budget funds.

In addition, contractors were paid 2.2 billion tenge for unprovided transport services.

“Regarding the noted violations, a pre-trial investigation was initiated on 10.07.2024 under Part 4 of Article 189 (embezzlement on an especially large scale) of the Criminal Code”, the statement says.

Furthermore, the prosecutor's office has launched a pre-trial investigation into the embezzlement of 11 million tenge in a subsidiary of JSC NC KazMunayGas (KMG).

“Under previously initiated pre-trial investigations under Article 189 of the Criminal Code regarding facts of fund embezzlement, the head of the production and technical department of Oil Transport Corporation LLP and 2 representatives of contractor organisations have been detained”, the statement says.

It is noted that since the start of the inspection, the department has launched 19 pre-trial investigations, which are currently under production by the Department of Economic Investigations of the Mangystau region.

As part of their investigation into the facts of embezzlement and misappropriation of budget funds, 8 people have been detained, including 4 heads of KMG subsidiary companies.
