A major fire broke out on the territory of the Alel Agro poultry farm, owned by businessman Margulan Seisembayev, in the Ashchybulak rural district of the Ili district, Almaty region. One person has died.
According to the Kazinform International News Agency, citing the Department for Emergency Situations (DES) of the Almaty region, the fire started in the canteen building.
"By the time the first units arrived, it became clear that the fire had spread over a significant area. During reconnaissance, a gas and smoke protection service team discovered the body of a man," the department's press service reported.
Video footage from the scene shows emergency services operating at the site. The fire spread over an area of approximately 450 square metres.
The fire was completely extinguished. The DES investigation department has opened a criminal case under Article 292, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Violation of fire safety requirements resulting in death by negligence"). The cause of the fire is being established.
It will be recalled that businessman Margulan Seisembayev has previously come under scrutiny from regulatory authorities. In 2023, the Talgar district prosecutor's office unsuccessfully attempted to seize a land plot of 4.5 hectares from him due to the illegal change of its designated use from irrigated arable land to the construction of a meat processing plant.
Despite the violations of land legislation, confirmed by the Almaty region Department for Land Resource Management, the court did not uphold the prosecutor's claims, and the plot remained in private ownership.
Earlier, an explosion of flour dust occurred on the territory of the AsiaAgroFood JSC feed mill in the Almaty region, as a result of which four workers died.
