According to preliminary information, two people have died. Another five victims have sustained injuries and are under medical supervision.
"The company expresses its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the deceased. The families of the deceased and the injured will receive all necessary assistance and support, including financial and psychological," — stated the press service of Kazzinc.

RESPONSE PROGRESS
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), an operational headquarters has been set up at the scene. Around 80 personnel and 18 pieces of equipment are involved in the response, along with canine units, medics from the Disaster Medicine Centre (DMC), a command-and-control vehicle, and an EMERCOM unmanned aerial vehicle.
Debris removal is currently underway.

OFFICIAL REACTION
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has taken personal control of the situation. He announced this at a government meeting.
"I instruct the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Ecology, and the regional akimat to take the necessary measures and report to me," said Olzhas Bektenov.
A special commission has also been established to determine the causes and all circumstances of the incident.

For context, at the lead plant of Kazzinc LLP, a dust collection device exploded in the smelting department of the electrolysis workshop, followed by a fire.
Upon the arrival of rescuers, open flames were visible. The fire was completely extinguished over an area of 120 sq m. A collapse of workshop structures was also recorded over an area of 220 sq m.
