The former chief greening officer of the capital is suspected of fraud.

"The Anti-Corruption Service for the city of Astana is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the former general director of the LLP 'Astana-Zelenstroy'" - reports the press service of Anticor.

According to the agency, he incited the bribery of law enforcement officials with 15 million tenge to drop a criminal case.

In addition, he is suspected of abusing his official powers. According to the investigation, he inflated the cost of completed work on planting perennial shrubs, for which local executive bodies were the clients.

"By court order, the suspect has been taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing. According to Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, any other information in the interests of the investigation is not subject to disclosure", the statement said.

It will be recalled that earlier it was reported that the capital's Anti-Corruption Service would check the activities of the State Institution 'Department of Environmental Protection and Natural Resource Management', as well as the subordinate organisation LLP 'Astana-Zelenstroy', for corruption risks.

In addition, it emerged that the general director of LLP 'Astana-Zelenstroy' received a bribe from the deputy director of LLP 'Tabigat-Service NS' in the amount of 9 million tenge for the unhindered signing of certificates of completed work on the maintenance of green spaces. It later emerged that for receiving the bribe, the general director was sentenced to a fine of 185 million tenge, and the bribe-giver was sentenced to a fine of 135 million tenge.

Furthermore, in 2022, LLP 'Astana-Zelenstroy' rented special equipment for 400 million tenge and intended to repair a Lamborghini engine for 3 million tenge through the government procurement website. And in 2020, during the pandemic, the LLP was included in the list of companies that, under a government procurement contract, were to carry out improvement and greening works in the capital's Almaty district for 2.7 billion tenge.
