In the Turkestan region, a verdict was passed on the heads of the education department of the Sauran district, Batyrbekova A. and Shegenbayev T., as well as accountants Zhanali B. and Parmenov A.
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, they were found guilty of embezzling 29 million tenge of budget funds. It was reported that the accused transferred money as salaries to individuals who were not actually working in the education sector.
The court sentenced Batyrbekova and Shegenbayev to 7 years of imprisonment, and Zhanali and Parmenov to restriction of liberty for the same term.
Recall that in October last year, prosecutors in the Turkestan region concluded 7 pre-trial investigations involving 123 employees in the region's education sector. During the investigation, 1.5 billion tenge was recovered from the suspects and paid into state revenue, and assets acquired through criminal means worth 2.9 billion tenge were seized.
