According to the press service of the department, the Anti-Corruption Service for the Aktobe region is investigating a case involving the acting head of the regional department for quality assurance in education. He is suspected of receiving bribes from heads of educational institutions for facilitating the passage of state accreditation.
In another case, the Anti-Corruption Service for the Kyzylorda region is conducting a pre-trial investigation into the head of the education department of Kyzylorda. She is suspected of receiving a bribe of 1 million tenge from a local resident for employing a relative as a teacher in an organisation under her authority.
Furthermore, the Anti-Corruption Service for the Aktobe region is investigating a criminal case against the chief specialist of the education department of the city of Aktobe. She is suspected of embezzling 4.9 million tenge by unjustifiably transferring salary payments to herself.
At the same time, information has become known about verdicts already handed down in cases of corruption in the field of education.
Thus, in the Almaty region, the head of the education department of the Balkhash district, D. Akmoldayeva, and 8 accountants from the same department were convicted. They were found guilty of embezzling 129.6 million tenge by awarding themselves inflated salaries.
Akmoldayeva was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months of imprisonment with a lifetime ban from holding positions in the civil service. The accountants received sentences of restriction and imprisonment ranging from 2 to 8 years with a ban from holding positions in the civil service for 3 to 10 years.
In Taldykorgan, a verdict was announced for the chief accountant of Secondary School No. 12, G. Salpinova, and an accountant of the same school, N. Yusupov. They were found guilty of embezzling 24.5 million tenge by transferring salary payments to themselves above the established norm.
Salpinova and Yusupov were sentenced to 8 and 7 years of imprisonment respectively. In addition, the convicted individuals were deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service and in quasi-public sector entities for 10 years.
