The Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) is conducting an investigation into the director of AlbaStroyDor LLP, Sergey Kim regarding the theft of property belonging to ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC.
According to the agency's press service, in 2015 ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC and AlbaStroyDor LLP entered into a contract for the processing of blast furnace slag without the right to dispose of residual processing products.
However, it is reported that Kim, using unrestricted access to production facilities, organised a scheme to steal blast furnace additive and pig iron from the plant site.
To transport the stolen property, an affiliated security company — Kuzet 2050 LLP — was brought into the criminal scheme, whose employees ensured uncontrolled access for vehicles.
The company director legalised the stolen property through the controlled entities GlobalSpecTorg LLP and TsentrOptSnab LLP.
As a result of his actions, more than 31,000 tonnes of products worth over 1.8 billion tenge were stolen. The suspect has been placed in custody for a period of 2 months. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
