On 370 million, ferroalloys were stolen from trains in the Abay region

The head of the transport police department, Bakytzhan Malybaev, said that in Kazakhstan, ferroalloys intended for export to Japan and India were being stolen from freight trains. 

According to the press service of the department, the amount of damage exceeded 370 million tenge.

"Thanks to comprehensive investigations carried out by the transport police department under the coordination of the Main Transport Prosecutor's Office, the criminal activities of a group that repeatedly stole ferroalloys from freight trains on the section between the Semey and Ayagoz stations have been stopped," the statement says.

It is reported that the cargo, which was being transported in transit through China to Japan and India, belonged to the Aksu Ferroalloy Plant, which is part of JSC "TNK "Kazchrome"

By a decision of the Zharma District Court of the Abai Region, the defendants were found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for terms ranging from 5 to 6 years.
