The Department of the Agency for Financial Monitoring (AFM) for the Abai Region has completed an investigation into the theft of budget funds allocated for the implementation of a state programme for the development of children's creativity through the "Damu Bala" platform.

According to the press service of the agency, the director of SAMGAU öner & sport mektebi LLP provided false information about classes with children to the per-capita funding programme for creative clubs and sports sections.

Based on monthly false attendance reports, the authorised body funded clubs that were supposedly operational.

The reports included children who did not actually attend the classes, and some of them were completely unaware of their participation in the programme.

For example, one child was listed as a participant in a painting club in the Abai Region despite living in the Almaty Region and not being a member of any club.

The court found the director of the Partnership guilty and sentenced him to 6 years of suspended imprisonment. The convicted person has fully compensated the state for damages amounting to 23 million tenge. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

Earlier, in Astana, a sentence was passed on two women who, under the guise of participating in state programmes, organised a fraudulent scheme worth more than 1 billion tenge
