The Anti-Corruption Agency has completed its investigation into the criminal case against the director of the RSSE "Directorate for Sports Development" of the Committee for Sports and Physical Culture of the Ministry of Tourism and Sport. His deputy has also ended up in the dock.
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, between 2022 and 2023, the officials, in a conspiracy with a businessperson, embezzled budget funds in the amount of 397 million tenge, allocated for the purchase of sports equipment.
Furthermore, in 2021, the head of the directorate, while serving as director of "Dat Corporation" LLP, embezzled budget funds totalling 161 million tenge, which had been allocated for the development of football and bandy in the West Kazakhstan Region.
The case is currently under consideration in court.
It is worth recalling that in September last year, a former head of the RSSE "Directorate for Sports Development", Samat Yergaliyev, was convicted in Astana for abuse of official power. The damage caused by his actions amounted to 113 million tenge.
