The Shu District Court has reached a verdict in the case concerning unresolved defects on the Merke – Shu – Burylbaital highway. The contracting organisation was fined 1.9 million tenge for ignoring the order. This was reported by Informburo.kz, citing the court's press service.
The background to the case began in February, when traffic police officers recorded 22 violations on a section of the road. In April, the company was issued an order to rectify the identified violations by May 2025, but it was not complied with.
During the court hearing, representatives of the contractor stated that the document had arrived late, and also cited the high cost of road signs and the need to involve subcontractors. They requested that the proceedings be terminated.
However, the court rejected these arguments, noting that financial or organisational difficulties do not relieve one of responsibility. As a result, the company was found guilty of failing to comply with the order and must pay a fine of 500 MCI (1,966,000 tenge). Its licence and permits are retained. The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
It is worth noting that problems with road quality occur not only in the Zhambyl region. It was previously reported that KazAvtoZhol explained that the heaving of roads in the Pavlodar and Turkestan regions is linked to the heat, and not to construction defects. The company assured that it is responding promptly and is already taking measures to rectify the defects.
