The Department of Housing and Utilities, Passenger Transport and Highways of the Taraz akimat unjustifiably transferred 75 million tenge to a contractor for four uncompleted estimate documents.
According to the press service of the Zhezkazgan Regional Prosecutor's Office, the department registered a criminal case under Article 189, Part 4, Paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted property). The investigation has been assigned to the Anti-Corruption Service of the Zhezkazgan region.
"An investigation is underway; in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code, no further information is subject to disclosure," the statement reads.
Earlier, it was reported that the deputy head of the Kyzylorda Department of Housing and Utilities, Passenger Transport and Highways authorised the payment of 27 million tenge for unfinished work on the installation of 40 pedestrian projectors.
