The Akim of Kostanay Region Kumar Aksakalov stated that the restaurant complex "Altyn-Saf", which was confiscated from former Kostanay Akim Akhmiedbek Akhmietzhanov, will no longer be put up for auction.
According to Informburo.kz, attempts to sell the property had been unsuccessful since last year. The head of the region noted that they no longer plan to auction the building and will instead use it for state needs.

"There was an auction this year, but no one bought it. We wanted it to be used for business. If no one is buying it, we will do something with it there. We are discussing various options: either a cultural facility or a creative centre for young people. We are discussing it with all the departments; I want to receive interesting proposals for using this premises," – said Aksakalov.
To recall, in April 2016, Akhmiedbek Akhmietzhanov was sentenced to 13 years in prison for bribery. In addition, his property was confiscated and he was banned from holding public office for life.
However, following an appeal, the sentence was reduced to 7 years and 6 months. At the same time, the former Akim benefited from an amnesty, which reduced the punishment to 4 years and 10 months. In 2019, Akhmietzhanov was released on parole, and the unserved part of his sentence was replaced with a fine.
In October of this year, the "Altyn-Saf" restaurant complex, confiscated from Akhmietzhanov, was offered for sale for the second time on an electronic trading platform. The starting price for the complex, with a total area of 1,558.4 m², was 307.3 million tenge. It was noted that this was 61.84% lower than the previous price of 805.5 million tenge.
Incidentally, it also became known at that time that one of the confiscated assets of the former Akim is the "Metropol" restaurant, which was transferred to state ownership. This building now houses a branch of the 'Government for Citizens'. In 2017, another of Akhmietzhanov's properties – the "Monolit" shopping centre, valued at 87.4 million tenge – was sold for 40.5 million tenge.
