The Department of Affairs of the Akim of the East Kazakhstan Region has put up for auction the Left Bank Sanatorium, better known as the former residence of Daniyal Akhmetov.
The regional akimat intends to create a tourism and investment centre on the site of the sanatorium. The starting price for the property is 1.12 billion tenge.
Up for sale is the two-storey sanatorium building (3,179.9 sq m), outbuildings (331.8 sq m), a house (157.9 sq m), located in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, on the territory of Dernovy Island, as well as a guesthouse (331 sq m) and a pumping station (26.3 sq m) on Dresvyany Island.

The start of the auction is scheduled for the third of July this year.
The tender will be held with the aim of transferring the property into trust management for three years with the possibility of subsequent purchase.
The potential buyer must bear all associated costs for implementing the tourism and investment centre project.
Namely, ensure the investment of direct funds of no less than 800 million tenge for the renovation and launch of the centre within three years.
The project will need to be agreed in advance with the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial-Innovative Development of the East Kazakhstan Region.
The future owner's area of responsibility also includes major renovations, creating infrastructure for guests' recreation and jobs, and creating a virtual model of the centre.
Construction and installation work must begin within six months of signing the contract. The multifunctional centre must have not only hotel rooms, but also conference halls, individual coworking spaces, retail pavilions, restaurants, a swimming pool, futsal courts, sports grounds and so on.
For context, a new video was recently released on the YouTube channel 'Obazhayu', in which the channel's creator, Askhat Niyazov, visited that very Left Bank Sanatorium.
The editorial team of FBRK determined the prices of some interior items that appeared in the footage. We counted furniture worth 27 million tenge.
We wonder how the regional akimat plans to dispose of it?
