Confiscated Bentley worth 104 million to be handed over to state agencies

Government organisations are looking to acquire a luxury vehicle, a Bentley Bentayga V8 from 2021, through an Electronic Trading Platform. According to Press.kz, its market value has been estimated at 104,316,000 tenge.

It has become known that the vehicle was involved in a criminal case initiated in connection with the abuse of official powers, resulting in grave consequences. It is reported that the Investigative Court of Astana imposed a seizure on the car at the request of Anticor.

"This offer is intended for transfer to state legal entities which are law enforcement and special state bodies for the purposes of ensuring state security, maintaining law and order, and preventing and suppressing criminal offences," states the note accompanying the auction.

For context, in November 2022, former Vice-Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Timur Toktabayev was detained on suspicion of abuse of official powers. By court order, expensive movable and immovable property belonging to him and his close relatives was seized, including elite private houses, land plots, a Cadillac Escalade, a Mercedes-Benz Maybach S580 4 Matic, two BMW X5 Xdrive40I vehicles, and a Bentley Bentayga V8 (2021 model year).

It is not stated whether this is the same Bentley that is to be transferred to state bodies. However, the article under which the owner of the confiscated vehicle was charged, as well as the car's model year, supports the validity of this assumption.
