Assets worth more than 325 billion tenge, including cash in the amount of 272 billion tenge, have been turned over to the state. They will be directed towards the implementation of social and economic projects.
"As of today, the General Prosecutor's Office is analysing information on more than 1,000 property assets in Kazakhstan and over 150 assets abroad. The analysis also covers securities worth 600 billion tenge. Over 200 bank accounts within the country and 140 abroad have been identified. Suspicious transactions totalling around 2 trillion tenge are being examined," the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office reported.
At the same time, it has become known that assets both in the country and abroad worth over 50 billion tenge have been transferred to the state. These include strategic deposits, monopoly companies, tens of thousands of hectares of land, as well as production facilities, hotels, business centres, villas, apartments, luxury cars, jewellery, and other items.
"Some subjects of the register have voluntarily undertaken obligations to implement high-tech investment projects with a total value of 30 billion tenge. These include production facilities for the manufacture of chemical and food products, pipes, packaging, etc. This is expected to create at least 300 new jobs, and annual tax contributions should exceed 1 billion tenge," the statement says.
Furthermore, individuals on the asset recovery register have voluntarily committed to building a modern cultural and educational centre worth more than 5 billion tenge, whose services will be available free of charge to people with special needs and representatives of other socially vulnerable groups.
"As part of the implementation of enforcement mechanisms, the Asset Recovery Committee of the General Prosecutor's Office has filed numerous lawsuits, including those concerning assets of unexplained origin. In one such case, a court decision has already been issued and has entered into force for the forced return of over $11 million, as well as jewellery and cultural valuables worth 400 million tenge," the statement says.
It has become known that, in total, since 2022, assets worth nearly 1.7 trillion tenge have been returned to the state, including over $750 million from abroad.
For context, it was previously reported that the Anti-Corruption Service plans to return another 50 billion tenge to the state in the case of the former president Nazarbayev's nephew, Kairat Satybaldy.
It was earlier reported that the Anti-Corruption Service had secured the return to the state of property assets and cash belonging to Satybaldy and related individuals totalling more than 732 billion tenge.
