The Akim of Almaty Erbolat Dosaev explained to residents of Almaly District at a meeting why the roads repaired in 2023 will be redone.
According to Bes.media, Dosaev noted that the asphalt had subsided in some areas not because of the weakness of the polymer, but due to the lower layers beneath it.
“I have no complaints about the polymer, I’ll tell you straight. The polymer works fine. The issue is with what’s under the layers”, said Erbolat Dosaev.
The Akim stated that the contractor will carry out repairs to the sections at their own expense.
“All roads in the city after medium-term repairs are accepted by the branch of the National Centre for Road Surface Quality Control. We have conducted more in-depth studies. With this experience in mind, we will know that next time we do this, where traffic is heavy, where public transport runs – we will thoroughly study the location and remove the old layers. Medium-term repairs do not require us to repair that deep. Under the contract, there is a guarantee, and the Urban Mobility Department and the contractor will carry out work on those sections where there is a problem”, promised Erbolat Dosaev.
It is noted that the repair on Abay Avenue was the responsibility of Gordorstroy No. 2 Specialised Management LLP.
Earlier, Maslikhat deputy Timur Eleusizov reported that 2 billion tenge was allocated from the budget in Almaty for laying innovative asphalt with a polymer coating on Abay Avenue, but it has already deformed.
In 2022, Akim of Almaty Erbolat Dosaev promised that the polymer-enhanced coating would last at least 10 years.
