In the North Kazakhstan Region, an accountant from the Magzhan Zhumabayev District Youth Resource Centre has been convicted. She was found guilty of embezzling budget funds.
According to the regional prosecutor's office, from January 2020 to February 2025, the institution's accountant illegally transferred salaries and other payments totalling 17 million tenge to her personal account.
In March of this year, the prosecutor's office registered a pre-trial investigation under paragraph 2, part 4, article 189 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Misappropriation or embezzlement of entrusted foreign property").
In September, the district court found the accountant guilty and sentenced her to 7 years' imprisonment, with a ban on holding positions involving financial responsibility and accounting for a period of 7 years. The sentence has entered into legal force.
It is noted that, in accordance with Article 74 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, due to the convicted person having a young child, the execution of the sentence has been deferred until 27 September 2028 — until the child reaches the age of 14. The damage caused to the state has been partially compensated.
For context, earlier in the Terektinsky District of the West Kazakhstan Region, two employees of the state "Centralised Library System" institution were found guilty of embezzling approximately 46 million tenge intended for staff salaries.
