The investigation into a criminal case against a methodologist-accountant from the administration of the Novotroitsk Rural District of Kostanay Region, who is accused of embezzling almost 10 million tenge of budget funds, has been completed.

According to the Telegram channel "Halyqstan", the district administration employee from Karabalyk District abused her official position and systematically transferred budget funds to her personal account. The money resulted from savings in budget funds, and the illegal payments were made from August 2021 to March 2025.

The investigation established that the total amount of theft amounted to 9.7 million tenge. The accused spent the stolen funds on personal needs.

The accountant's actions were classified under Part 3 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Embezzlement of entrusted property using official position on a large scale"). The indictment has been sent to court.

In May this year, it was reported that the Karabalyk District prosecutor's office, during a reconciliation of the staffing schedule and bank accounts, identified a discrepancy between the accountant's entitled and actually paid salary. The initial damage was estimated at 9.8 million tenge.

It should be noted that the sanction of the article provides for a penalty of restriction of liberty for a term of 2 to 7 years or imprisonment for the same term. Additional penalties may include confiscation of property, as well as disqualification from holding certain positions for a period of up to six years.

Recall that in April, at the Saryagash District Court of the Turkestan Region, a verdict was announced for three heads of the district education department and 8 accountants. They were found guilty of embezzling 550 million tenge by transferring salaries to people who were not actually working in the education sector.
