The liberalisation of the fuel and lubricants market as a way to combat smuggling in Kazakhstan
Over the past period, monthly volumes of illicit exports of fuel and lubricants from Kazakhstan to neighbouring countries have reached 45,000 tonnes. The Ministry of Energy sees a solution to the problem in liberalising the market and abandoning state regulation of fuel prices. The editorial staff of FBK investigated why this measure could become an effective tool in combating smuggling.
