In the Pavlodar region, a crime involving grievous bodily harm resulting in the death of a person, committed in 2022, has been solved. In March 2026, the court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to eight years' imprisonment.

The Constitutional Court has ruled that paragraph 1-2 of Article 41-1 of the Communications Act, which permits the temporary restriction of communication networks and access to internet resources in certain cases, is in accordance with the Constitution. At the same time, the Court highlighted the need to clarify certain provisions of the norm and recommended that the Government consider improving the legislation.

8 June 2026, at the Karasu vehicle checkpoint in the Zhambyl region, an attempt to illegally import 360,000 packs of cigarettes into Kazakhstan was prevented. The estimated value of the seized goods exceeds 180 million tenge.

The European Union's (EU) top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, has stated that as part of preparations for the 21st package of sanctions against Russia, the restrictions could affect companies from a number of third countries, including Kazakhstan. This concerns new export control measures and restrictions on organisations which, in the EU's assessment, provide support to the Russian military-industrial complex.

In Kazakhstan, the Digital Qazaqstan strategy up to 2029 has been officially approved. The document sets out the main directions for the country's digitalisation and the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies.
