In Zhanaozen, a liquefied gas leak occurred near an autogas filling station. According to the Department of Emergency Situations of the Mangystau Region, the incident was recorded in the city’s industrial zone; there were no fires or casualties.
According to Lada.kz, videos are circulating on social media showing thick white smoke spreading across the ground, enveloping the area around the autogas filling station.
After the leak was reported, the area was temporarily cordoned off by police patrols, and traffic near the site was blocked.
Officials from the regional Department of Emergency Situations clarified that on 30 December at 18:34 in Zhanaozen, in industrial zone No. 14, at the «Anar» autogas filling station, a liquefied gas leak occurred from the flange connection of a tank with a capacity of 5 tonnes.
«There was no fire, and no casualties. To ensure safety, forces and resources from the Department of Emergency Situations were dispatched to the site — 28 personnel and 11 units of equipment. The area was cordoned off by police officers. Work was carried out to supply water in a sprayed form, with two 'B' hoses deployed,» the department reported.
According to the rescuers, as a result of the work carried out, the gas fully escaped from the tank. At 19:30, the leak was completely eliminated. After that, traffic was reopened in both directions.
The Department of Emergency Situations noted that the situation is under control, and there is no threat to the population or the environment.
