In the village of Nura, Talgar District, Almaty Region, a 24-year-old man died after a stab wound. Three people have been detained on suspicion of the crime.
HOW THE CONFLICT UNFOLDED
According to journalist Nurtai Lakhan, as reported, the tragedy occurred on the night of 11 May when the man was returning from the cemetery with his brother after visiting their father's grave. On the road, they encountered three young people who had blocked the way with a car with its doors open.
The deceased asked them to clear the road, but reportedly received a rude refusal. After that, the men went their separate ways, but later, according to the journalist, the three young men came to the victim's home. During the conflict, one of the individuals inflicted stab wounds to the man's chest. He died in hospital from his injuries.
It is reported that the suspect is 20 years old.
WHAT THE POLICE REPORTED
The Police Department of Almaty Region reported the detention of three suspects. Criminal cases have been opened on charges of "Murder" and "Hooliganism" regarding this incident.
Furthermore, the police stated that immediately after receiving the report, police units were dispatched to the scene and checkpoints were set up.
WHAT THE VILLAGERS SAY
According to local residents, there have previously been cases of knife attacks among teenagers and schoolchildren in the village. Residents claim that some students openly carry bladed weapons.
The villagers also report pressure following the publication of similar stories in local chats. There was no official confirmation of this information at the time of publication.
WHY THE SITUATION CAUSED CONTROVERSY
This is not the first high-profile murder in Talgar District. Previously, the case of 16-year-old Sherzat Polat, who died in Talgar in October 2024 after a conflict near his family's shop, caused widespread public outcry. In June 2025, the court sentenced nine defendants in the case on charges related to murder, attempted murder, and hooliganism.
Additionally, in April 2026, it became known that an investigation was underway into the murder of 20-year-old Anvar Musaev in Talgar District. According to the Almaty Region Police Department, several people were detained in connection with the case, some of whom are being investigated for hooliganism.
