A 20-year-old student, Zhangir Nurlanuly, died after a conflict broke out among a group of young people in Taldykorgan. According to police, a suspect has been detained and remanded in custody pending investigation.
HOW THE CONFLICT OCCURRED
According to a local Instagram page, on the evening of 7 May, Zhangir Nurlanuly went to friends' to watch a football match. There was a group of around ten people in the apartment, including a 17-year-old schoolboy.
It is reported that a conflict arose between the young men. After the argument, the participants went outside, and some time later Zhangir met the 17-year-old again. According to the victim's mother, it was then that the schoolboy called him over and inflicted six stab wounds. The young man died from his injuries.
The victim's mother said that shortly before the tragedy she had been video calling her son. According to her, he was in good spirits and promised to call back later.
WHAT THE POLICE REPORTED
The police department of the Zhetysu region confirmed the incident, reports the Telegram channel "HALYQSTAN".
"The suspect in the crime has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. A specialised investigative court has authorised a measure of restraint in the form of pre-trial detention," police said.
The Zhetysu regional police department also clarified that a thorough investigation is being conducted. Investigators have ordered forensic examinations, seized physical evidence, and are questioning those involved in the conflict.
Police added that the progress of the investigation is under the special supervision of the department's leadership. No further information is being disclosed in accordance with Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
