Student Olzhas Auelbekov, who stood up for underage girls on a bus, has been awarded in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The initiative came from MP Lukbek Tumashinov, who described his actions as a display of civic duty.
WHO AWARDED HIM AND WHY
As reported by Mazhilis MP Lukbek Tumashinov on his Facebook page, he personally met with first-year student Olzhas Auelbekov and presented him with a new iPhone. In his words, the young man's actions served as an example of courage and concern for what is happening in society.
"We must support such citizens not only with words but also with concrete actions. Law and order should always be on the side of justice. It is especially important that people who contribute to public safety do not go unnoticed. While expressing gratitude to Olzhas, I want to address all young people: do not be indifferent, do not stand idly by in the face of injustice," stated the MP.
CONTEXT
To recap, the incident occurred on 13 March on public transport in Ust-Kamenogorsk. According to witnesses, a man was harassing two girls aged 11–12, causing them to leave the bus before their stop.
However, a young man intervened: he tried to stop the man's actions and remove him from the vehicle. This led to a conflict that drew the attention of other passengers.
Notably, following the investigation, both parties involved in the conflict faced consequences. One for harassment in a public place, and the student himself for minor hooliganism after using physical force.
