For January–May 2026, Kazakhstan’s state budget received more than 11.4 trillion tenge – this is 16% more compared to the same period last year.
WHAT INDICATORS HAVE BEEN RECORDED
According to the press service of the Ministry of Finance, against a plan of 7.34 trillion tenge, republican budget revenues amounted to 7.41 trillion tenge. Thus, the plan was fulfilled by 100.9%, and the surplus amounted to 66.7 billion tenge.
Compared to January–May 2025, republican budget revenues increased by 25.1%, or by 1.48 trillion tenge.
Local budget revenues, according to operational data, reached 4.05 trillion tenge. Compared to the same period last year, revenues increased by 95.1 billion tenge, or by 2.4%.
WHAT DROVE THE INCREASE IN REVENUES
In the structure of republican budget revenues excluding transfers, 97.7% comes from tax receipts. The plan for these was fulfilled by 100.5%, and growth exceeded 30.6%.
The significant increase in revenues was driven by receipts from value added tax (VAT), corporate income tax, mineral extraction tax, and export customs duties on crude oil.
It is noted that the key factors for growth were the favourable price environment on global commodity markets, economic growth, increased business activity, and tax reform.
WHERE THE FUNDS ARE BEING DIRECTED
The state budget retains its status as a development budget. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of infrastructure projects.
Among the key areas cited are the construction and reconstruction of roads, modernisation of engineering and utility infrastructure, development of transport and logistics corridors, as well as projects in the energy, water supply and digitalisation sectors.
Such projects are aimed at increasing regional connectivity, improving public access to services, creating new jobs and attracting private investment.
