Бектенов о темпах экономического развития Казахстана

Submitted by Вера Александрова on

At a plenary session of the Mazhilis, where draft laws on the republican budget for 2026–2028 and inter-budgetary transfers were being considered, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov presented the government's position on the country's economic growth rates.

According to the government press office, Kazakhstan has demonstrated sustainable economic growth over the past three years — 5.1% in 2023 and 5% in 2024. Bektenov stressed that the indicators for the current year also remain high.

"We do indeed adhere to a conservative approach when planning the budget. Overall, the average global economic growth rate is 3%. If we look at our major neighbours, countries that are important to us, their economies are also slowing down. As a government, we are making every effort to ensure stable, dynamic economic growth," Bektenov noted.

At the same time, he reported that a large-scale programme worth 8 trillion tenge is being implemented through the Baiterek holding, aimed at launching key infrastructure and industrial projects.

In total, 1,681 major projects are being implemented across the country, which have already created around 40,000 permanent jobs. In the current year alone, it is planned to launch 190 industrial facilities with a total value of over 1.5 trillion tenge.

According to the Prime Minister, particular attention is being paid to maintaining macroeconomic stability and fighting inflation. As of the end of September, the inflation rate stood at 12.9%.

"In our view, this is a very high figure and it needs to be reduced. We are developing a corresponding action plan together with the National Bank. Once it is ready, we will publish the document for the public in the near future," the statement said.

Considering these factors, Bektenov believes that the indicators for the planned rate of development are in an optimal balance.
