Residents of the village of Karakemer in the Korday district of the Zhambyl region have expressed concern following several tragic incidents involving minors. It was previously reported that teenagers had died, with the preliminary cause given as suicide.
WHAT HAPPENED
According to the police department (DP) of the Zhambyl region, on 15 April the bodies of two minors were found in the village of Karakemer.
As reported by Nege.kz, the teenagers were Year 9 pupils and attended the same school. Before the tragedy, the schoolchildren posted a photo on the social network TikTok with the caption “For the memory”.

WHAT THE VILLAGERS SAID
According to a female resident of the village, this is not the first such incident in recent months.
“Since December, some kind of calamity has befallen our village. First, a Year 9 pupil hanged himself, then a Year 7 pupil. Before we could recover from those events, came the tragic news of the death of a teenager who had started college after Year 9. Taking the last two cases into account, that makes five in total,” she said.
Residents note that what is happening is causing alarm among parents. According to them, families have tightened supervision of their children and have sought help from specialists.
“All our hope lies with the imams who come from Taraz to guide the children. Perhaps after that, this evil will stop,” said one parent.
Official bodies have not yet said whether these cases are linked or whether they are being considered as part of a single investigation.
