The Prosecutor's Office of the Zhylyoi District of the Atyrau Region thwarted an attempt to allocate 389 million tenge for the purchase of a sports complex. The property turned out to be dilapidated and would have required additional budget expenditure.
WHAT THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE FOUND
According to the Prosecutor's Office of the Zhylyoi District, the district budget commission on 17 December 2025 approved the allocation of 389 million tenge for the acquisition of a sports complex.
The supervisory authority established that the property, which the akimat planned to purchase, is in a dilapidated condition and requires repairs.
WHY THE DECISION WAS DEEMED UNJUSTIFIED
As the prosecutor's office emphasised, such expenditure could have led to double financing: first for the purchase, then for the restoration of the property.
"The implementation of this project contradicts the principles of rational planning and efficient use of budget funds," the statement said.
WHAT MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN
Following a prosecutor's order, the budget commission's decision was overturned, which prevented unjustified expenditure.
The prosecutor's office stressed that compliance with the law in the area of budget legislation is under special supervision.
