The prosecutor's office of the city of Kokshetau has identified an overstatement of the cost of a major renovation project for one of the schools in the amount of 1.5 billion tenge. After the inspection, the public procurement was cancelled, and the cost of the project was revised downwards.

WHAT THE INSPECTION FOUND

The prosecutor's office of the city of Kokshetau conducted an analysis of compliance with budget legislation and legislation on public procurement regarding the efficiency of spending public funds.

During the inspection, it was established that procurement of works for the major renovation of one of the schools was planned in the city. The total cost of the project was 1.5 billion tenge.

WHY THE COST OF THE PROJECT WAS REVISED

When studying the project and estimate documentation, employees of the prosecutor's office identified an overstatement of the cost of the project. This was due to the incorrect application of a correction factor.

According to information from the supervisory authority, the error led to an artificial increase in the cost of construction.

WHAT DECISION WAS MADE

Based on the report of the prosecutor's office of the city of Kokshetau, the public procurement was cancelled. After that, the cost of the project was revised downwards.

As reported by the prosecutor's office, the measures taken made it possible to prevent the inefficient spending of budget funds.
