According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the head of the Atyrau city police department has been suspended from his post.
Also removed from their positions:
- the heads of the internal security department;
- the head of the anti-narcotics unit of the Atyrau Regional Police Department (RPD).
WHAT VIOLATIONS WERE FOUND
As reported by the MIA, serious violations were uncovered during the internal investigation.
“Due to gross violations of official discipline, as well as a lack of proper oversight and work organisation, they were suspended by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs. The MIA regularly conducts planned internal inspections of the activities of regional departments,” the department noted.
The ministry also emphasised that work to ensure legality and official discipline is carried out on a systematic basis, including within the internal affairs bodies themselves.
