In Atyrau, dozens of patrol cars from other regions of Kazakhstan have appeared on the city streets. This has caused traffic jams, gatherings of people, and a wave of rumours among drivers, including owners of vehicles with foreign number plates.

WHAT HAPPENED IN ATYRAU

According to the Police Department of Atyrau Region, an operational-preventive measure (OPM) called "Stop-Violations" has been launched in the region. As part of the operation, additional police crews from other regions have arrived in the city, reports the Telegram channel "HALYQSTAN".

The appearance of a large number of patrol cars has caused a stir among residents. Messages about possible mass checks of cars with so-called "Armenian" number plates began to spread on social media and in specialist communities.

WHY TRAFFIC JAMS OCCURRED IN THE CITY

By evening, congestion had formed in the central part of Atyrau. According to eyewitnesses, groups of people and onlookers gathered near the places where cars were stopping.

Police reported that the additional forces were deployed not for detentions, but for holding explanatory conversations with citizens and preventing panic.

WHAT THE POLICE SAID

The Police Department of Atyrau Region urged residents not to give in to rumours. The department emphasised that the reinforcement is solely related to the prevention of offences, ensuring public order, and road safety.

The police also clarified that the OPM "Stop-Violations" will officially end on 23 May.
