President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has signed a decree appointing Nurlibek Nalibayev as first deputy prime minister. He has simultaneously been removed from his post as governor of the Kyzylorda Region.
WHAT IS KNOWN
By decree of the Head of State, Nurlibek Nalibayev has been appointed first deputy prime minister.
From 7 April 2022, Nurlibek Nalibayev held the post of governor of the Kyzylorda Region. He was reappointed to this position on 1 December 2022.
Before working in the region, Nalibayev held the position of head of the regional development department of the Prime Minister's Office. He previously also worked as governor of the city of Kyzylorda and governor of the Shiyeli District of the Kyzylorda Region.
CONTEXT
Prior to the new appointment, the position of first deputy prime minister was held by Roman Sklyar. On 5 May, the President appointed him head of the Presidential Administration.
This post was previously held by Aibek Dadabay. After his dismissal, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked him for his work and noted his contribution during his tenure as acting head of the Presidential Administration.
