Staff reductions have been carried out among administrative personnel at Kazakhstan's national energy companies. The changes affected the central offices in Astana and did not impact production units or regional branches.
WHO WAS MADE REDUNDANT AT KEGOC
The Chairman of the Board of JSC "KEGOC", Nabi Aitzhanov, stated at a government briefing that the reductions affected employees of the executive directorate and the subsidiary company "Energoinform".
In total, approximately 39 people were made redundant. The workers have received the relevant notices. According to him, the changes only affected the central office in Astana and did not affect branches in the regions.
He clarified that administrative and managerial staff were made redundant, whereas production employees were not affected. At "Energoinform", three managing directors were also dismissed.
REDUCTIONS AT SAMRUK-ENERGO
The Chairman of the Board of JSC "Samruk-Energo", Kairat Maksutov, reported that approximately 10% of the company's employees had been made redundant.
According to him, the optimisation affected the administrative and managerial staff of the central apparatus. At the same time, the changes did not affect around 19 subsidiary enterprises in the regions, in order to preserve the reliable operation of energy facilities.
WHY THE CHANGES BEGAN
At an expanded government meeting, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, criticised the work of national companies, noting that some employees were not effectively fully utilised.
The head of state instructed that the structure of such organisations be reviewed and that surplus management staff be cut.
Following this, the Chairman of the Board of JSC "National Management Holding 'Baiterek'", Rustam Karagoishin, stated that the holding had no employees who were not actively engaged in work.
