According to the press service of the North Kazakhstan Region Prosecutor's Office, 11 public procurements worth 3.3 billion tenge were cancelled in the region over three months. 17 officials were held accountable, including 6 for discrediting the civil service. Of these, 3 were dismissed.
For example, the head of the Housing and Utilities Department of the Timiryazevsky District paid 6.7 million tenge for the development of design and estimate documentation for the reconstruction of distribution networks and signed certificates of completed work which turned out not to have been carried out.
In another case, the acting akim of the Timiryazevsky Rural District paid a supplier nearly 20 million tenge for uncompleted work on the installation of a children's sports playground.
Similar violations were committed by the akim of the Astrakhansky Rural District of the Akkaikyn District, who paid 1.3 million tenge for work to prepare the territory for a public square without it actually being carried out.
"Disciplinary measures in the form of dismissal were taken based on acts of the supervisory body and recommendations of the Ethics Council of the Department of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Civil Service Affairs for the North Kazakhstan Region. Currently, local executive bodies are taking measures to eliminate the financial violations that have occurred," the statement reads.
