The Ministry of Energy has announced the redistribution of 260,000 tonnes of oil to alternative export routes due to adjustments to transit along the Druzhba oil pipeline towards Germany. Part of the volumes will be directed to the port of Ust-Luga and via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

HOW THE OIL WAS REDISTRIBUTED

According to the Ministry of Energy, in connection with adjustments to the transit schedule towards the German Schwedt refinery, a decision was made to redistribute export volumes.

100,000 tonnes of oil have been sent to the port of Ust-Luga, and another 160,000 tonnes to the CPC system.

"The rerouting of flows has been agreed with shippers and is operational in nature. The change in transport routes does not affect the fulfilment of the annual oil production plan. The current transport infrastructure allows Kazakhstan to fully ensure export stability and uninterrupted supplies of raw materials to global markets," emphasised the official representative of the Ministry of Energy, Assel Serikpayeva.

CONTEXT

It was previously reported that from 1 May, the transit of Kazakh oil to Germany via the northern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline through Russian territory would be halted. This was reported by the Reuters agency, citing industry sources.

Later, Energy Minister Yerlan Akkenzhenov stated that the delivery schedule for May indicated zero transit volumes along this route. The exact reasons for the restrictions were not given, and the versions put forward were speculative in nature.
