A fire accompanied by a pop of the gas-air mixture occurred at an auto gas filling station in the Almaty district of the city of Aktobe. The ignition started in one of the above-ground tanks and quickly spread to neighbouring objects. Thanks to the prompt actions of the rescuers, the fire was completely extinguished.
HOW THE FIRE DEVELOPED
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES RK), the pop occurred in one of the above-ground tanks on the territory of the LPG filling station on Akzharskaya Street. After that, the flames spread to a second above-ground tanker, a parked gas carrier and the operator's building.
RESCUERS' WORK AT THE SCENE
Forces from the Department of Emergency Situations (DES) arrived at the scene in the shortest possible time. Firefighters worked under conditions of increased risk, preventing possible secondary explosions and further spread of the fire.
The fire has been completely extinguished. According to official information, there are no casualties.
HOW MANY RESOURCES WERE DEPLOYED
Approximately 60 personnel and 16 units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. Units from the DES, the operational rescue squad (ORS) and the disaster medicine centre (DMC) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were brought in for the work.
