An explosion of flour dust occurred on the premises of the feed mill JSC AsiaAgroFood in the Almaty region. As a result, one employee died and three are in serious condition.
According to ORDA, the tragedy was caused by the ignition of a dust-air mixture that had accumulated in the production facility. The company's chairman of the board, Sayashenov, confirmed the fact of the explosion.
"Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the doctors, one of the victims has died. We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. We have already initiated an internal investigation and are fully cooperating with the relevant authorities for a comprehensive investigation into what happened," he stated.
According to Ashenov, the three injured are receiving medical treatment at the Karasay Central District Hospital. Their condition is assessed as serious. He also assured that the company will assume full financial responsibility.
"We will provide comprehensive support to the injured employees and the family of the deceased, including financial payments and assistance during the recovery period," added the head of the enterprise.
Earlier, it was reported that in 2024, 1,408 workers were injured as a result of industrial accidents, 202 of whom died.
A high level of injuries is predominantly observed in industrial regions. Thus, in the Karaganda region, 159 people were injured; in the East Kazakhstan region – 124; in the Pavlodar region – 112; in the Abay region – 101; in the Kostanay region – 91; and in Almaty, 116 people were injured.
