Violations in the area of public procurement have been identified in the Kostanay region.
According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, the construction department of the Kostanay district akimat and a contractor entered into an agreement to build a water supply system in the village of Moskovskoye worth 859.6 million tenge.
"Under paragraph 9 of Article 43 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan 'On Public Procurement', the supplier provided contract performance security of 89.4 million tenge", the statement said.
The facility was planned to be completed by 20 July 2023, but the contractor performed virtually no work on site. As a result, the contract was terminated unilaterally.
"In the event of termination of a public procurement contract due to the supplier's failure to fulfil contractual obligations, the contract performance security is not returned to the supplier but is credited to the revenue of the relevant budget", the department explained.
After the intervention of the prosecutor's office, 89.4 million tenge was recovered from the contractor and reimbursed to state revenue.
Recall that in September it was reported that in the village of Novonezhinka, Auliekol district of the Kostanay region, schoolchildren are forced to study in a half-renovated building due to a negligent contractor.
In June it became known that two years ago in Almaty, work began on the reconstruction of the exhibition greenhouse on the territory of the botanical garden, but the contractors never finished the work. The facility's management is now seeking sponsors to complete the reconstruction of the greenhouse.
