The Anti-Corruption Compliance Service and the Security Service of JSC «NC «KazAvtoZhol» have uncovered facts of embezzlement of budget funds.
According to the company's press service, the management of the East Kazakhstan regional branch of LLP «KAZHServis» has been implicated.
“The inspection materials were handed over to the anti-corruption service of the East Kazakhstan region. Based on the results of the inspection, on 30 September 2024, a criminal case was opened under paragraph 1 of part 3 of article 189 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” the statement reads.
It will be recalled that in April, the former chairman of the board of JSC «NC KazAvtoZhol» Askar Muratuly was detained on suspicion of embezzling budget funds. At that time, a pre-trial restriction measure in the form of custody for a period of 2 months was authorised against him.
Later it became known that Muratuly and the company's general contractor are suspected of embezzling state funds allocated for the repair of the «Zhaqsy – Esil – Buzuluq» highway, including the construction of a bridge over the Ishim River.
Shortly before that, in Pavlodar, the director and chief specialist of the «KazAvtoZhol» branch were convicted of receiving a bribe. The court sentenced the company director to 8 years in prison, and the chief specialist received 7 years.
