In the Aktobe region, meltwater has washed away the road to the village of Kanai in the Kobda district. The water overflowed the banks of the Tumanshy River after intense snowmelt in the region.

According to ORDA, there are 12 houses in the village.

"The total length of the road is three kilometres. Of that, six metres were washed away by the water. Access to the village has been temporarily closed," reported the Akimat of the Aktobe region.

Meanwhile, local authorities assure that the village will not be flooded. A motorboat has been delivered to the scene, rescuers are laying sandbags, and a duty watch has been organised. Supplies of medicine and food in the village are sufficient.

Officials have promised to restore traffic once the water inflow decreases.

For context, earlier in the West Kazakhstan region, a highway was closed due to rapid snowmelt, where meltwater was flowing across the road surface.
