The Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Monuments of Ancient Taraz" secured through the courts the release of a land plot of 2 hectares, on which the "Aisha-Bibi" mausoleum is located.
According to the press office of the Supreme Court, the conflict arose after five entrepreneurs illegally occupied technical premises on the territory of the museum-reserve and organised trading activities there.
Representatives of the museum went to court demanding the release of the illegally occupied buildings, pointing out that the defendants lacked the necessary permits and documents for the use of the premises. The plaintiff also noted the prohibition of trade on the territory of the historical and cultural museum-reserve.
During the court proceedings, four defendants did not admit the claims, arguing that one of the entrepreneurs had built the disputed buildings in 2010 at his own expense and subsequently transferred them free of charge for trade purposes.
The Zhambyl District Court declared the appropriation of the buildings illegal and ordered the entrepreneurs to vacate the premises.
Disagreeing with the decision, the businessmen tried to appeal it, but the Zhambyl Regional Court agreed with the conclusions of the first instance court and upheld the decision unchanged.
It is worth recalling that in May last year, land on which Saka burial mounds are located was sold in the Zhambyl region. Local residents reported that the balbals were destroyed and the burials were completely demolished.
In turn, the entrepreneur noted that he had obtained documents for the plot, which had been resold several times. According to him, all questions should be directed to the local authorities.
