The appellate panel of the Astana court reviewed the appeal of the wife of Arystanbek Mukhamediuly - Galiya Iskakova. According to Tengrinews.kz, her lawyer and public defenders spoke in court. The court ruled to change the sentence.

"The sentence of the Specialised Inter-District Criminal Court of Astana dated 13 February 2024 regarding Iskakova Galiya Nigmetovna is to be changed. The actions of Iskakova Galiya Nigmetovna under Art. 368, Part 1 (Mediation in bribery) of the Criminal Code are to be reclassified under Art. 24, Part 3 (Attempt to commit a crime)", the court ruling states.

At the same time, the court ruled that Iskakova's main sentence be considered served and released her from custody.

"Taking into account the time spent under house arrest from 5 July 2023 until the sentence enters into legal force, at a rate of two days for one day, the main sentence of Galiya Iskakova in the form of 6 months' imprisonment is considered served," the judge added.

It is reported that the rest of the sentence was left unchanged.

Recall that Galiya Iskakova was sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment for mediation in bribery. The wife of the former minister was charged with mediation in the transfer of 220 million tenge to the lawyer of Arystanbek Mukhamediuly - Mustakhim Tuleyev. According to the investigation, the lawyer allegedly assured the couple that he would use the funds to influence a court decision.

As a result, the defendant was sentenced to 8 years in prison. Subsequently, in court, Tuleyev claimed that he had returned the money received to the client's wife. According to him, the money was not intended as a bribe at all, but was, so to speak, 'unearned fees'.

However, later the court found Mukhamediuly guilty of attempting to give a bribe and replaced his previous sentence from 8 to 11 years' imprisonment. The lawyer was found guilty of fraud on an especially large scale and sentenced to 6 years and 8 months' imprisonment.
